Having just “finished” Super Mario Galaxy with 120 Stars yesterday, I can safely and surely say it’s one of the best game I’ve ever played in my entire life. The sheer size of details, the creativity on display, the beautiful and breathtaking visuals and the awesome awesome awesome music (Did I say awesome? I meant epic and just plain beautiful soundtrack); Needless to say it’s tied with Super Metroid as my favorite game of all time; and I’m quite sure it will surpass it as I spend more time with it.

That’s saying A LOT, believe me. One of my favorite aspects of every game is the soundtrack. And God did this game deliver! Remixed tunes of classic melodies alongside amazing new pieces. Wow. Just wow.

So I thought I should show you my favorite song in the entire game; Gusty Garden Galaxy complete with video of the recording session with Shigeru Miyamoto (Game Director and Mario creator) and Koji Kondo (Series’ Composer).

Now, wasn’t that just beautiful?

Well well… here we have another politician talking about how videogames are bad for children, yet these same politicians haven’t played a single game in their entire life.

OK, let’s see here. The rating system has different labels, and depending on each title the Entertainment Software Rating Board, (or ESRB for short) gives each individual game an appropiate rating. Just as with the Movie Industry, the Video Game Industry holds the same kind of principles.

Ratings (Movies Left, Videogames on Right):

General Audience (G) = E for Everyone

Parental Guardian (PG) = E+10 (Everybody 10 years or older)

PG-13 = T for Teen

Now here comes the good part. Those are labels that will not pose any problem whatsoever to the customer of either Industry. But just as the Movie Industry has the “R” rating for Restricted Access, the Video Game Industry has the “M” Rating for Mature Audiences and the “A” for Adult Audiences Only.

Now keep in mind these aforementioned ratings require, yes, REQUIRE a valid ID to purchase a title (or view a movie if talking about the Movie Industry). Now to quote the original article:

“A bipartisan group of lawmakers including a Democratic presidential hopeful is calling on the makers of video games to review the industry’s ratings system.

In letter to the Entertainment Software Rating Board, the lawmakers complained about its decision to give an “mature” rating Rockstar’s “Manhunt 2″ game.

Sens. Joe Lieberman, I-Conn., Sam Brownback, R-Kan., Evan Bayh, D-Ind., and Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y., said the game’s violent content, which includes “many graphic torture scenes and murders,” should have garnered an “adults only” rating.

Clinton, the front-runner for the Democratic nomination for president, has long pressed for tougher ratings and has called for a unified ratings system for movies, games and TV shows.

“We ask your consideration of whether it is time to review the robustness, reliability and repeatability of your ratings process, particularly for this genre of ‘ultraviolent’ video games and the advances in game controllers,” the senators wrote. “We have consistently urged parents to pay attention to the ESRB rating system. We must ensure that parents can rely on the consistency and accuracy of those ratings.”

Rockstar also makes the controversial “Grand Theft Auto” series of games.”

What Politicians don’t seem to understand is that exact point. Kids can’t buy those violent games that have them so worried, only Adults can. But what happens if a Parent or Guardian else gets the game for the child? Well, apparently the only solution is to blame the Ratings Board, the Industry and the store that sold it. Forget about blaming the Parents. Oh no, that’s unthinkable.

Each family has their own “rating board”; Parents need to decide which games their children can play and which titles they can’t. That’s why the ESRB exists for. That’s why every single videogame available has that little rectangle at the bottom. It’s time to stop this unnecesary blame game and start doing something.

And as a sidenote. That game in particular; Manhunt 2 isn’t a very good game at all. I’d go as far as to say it sucks.

Yeah yeah… I won’t lie. I forgot I had a blog for a while. A while being a couple of months. But fear not fellow readers (Both of you) I’m back and ready to keep posting mindless and pointless stuff.

I’ll start by saying Happy Birthday to my favorite home console of this generation; I’m talking about the Wii of course. Yesterday was it’s first ever anniversary, so I just wanted to bring that to the attention of you guys.

So happy first anniversary honey! Sir Miyamoto-Sama is proud of your first year.

My Wii Collection [So Far]

I still remember that Sunday morning of November as if it were yesterday. November 19th, the day the Wii launched; it’s the first system I’ve ever purchased on the day it was released. Was it worth it? Completely.

And even though my collection so far isn’t as vast as I would like it to be, it is still a work in progress and come fall I’m sure it will only grow. As will my Nintendo DS library.

Resident Evil 4 (Early Version)

The 4th installment of the Resident Evil series went through a lot of changes, four changes actually, but it was scrapped due to the fact that it was too supernatural for the franchise and eventually turned into Devil May Cry.

Yes. Capcom. Wii.

Even with all of their comments regarding the Resident Evil franchise on the system. Capcom is still my favorite 3rd Party developer. And here they are with a new title, completely developed from the ground up for the Wii. The genre? Adventure, Point and Click style!

According to various game sites like IGN and GameSpot, this title is one of the best yet on the Wii. Don’t be fooled by it’s appeareance. It seems to be quite a difficult game, but at the same time not frustrating; it has just the right difficulty. No Wind Waker difficulty here fools! =P

Another aspect that I absolutely love is the art style. My favorite 3D Zelda is The Wind Waker, why? The Art Style, the story, the overall experience. Another fantastic game, Killer 7. Now what do all of these games have in common? The Cel-Shaded style. It’s absolutely beautiful and I completely love it.

Now, I’m going to say this only once. GET THIS GAME! It’s Capcom, it’s an exclusive game for the console. It’s going to be great damnit!

As some of you may know, I’m quite the Resident Evil fan. I absolutely love the entire series, and although the 4th installment didn’t feel like an RE title per say I still enjoy it very much. So to hype me up even more for the release of the Wii Edition here is the “Making of Resident Evil 4″.

10 finalist were chosen, sure some of them are quite entertaining but I really do think that none of them hold a candle to the Punch Out!! Trailer. So kudos to those guys, you guys deserve all the credit you can get! =P
